What To Bring To Class!

Students should bring the following items to class EVERY time we meet:
- Pencil (everything in class is done in pencil!)
- Science Journal
- Silent Reading chapter book
- 8 X 11 Notebook paper
- Other items may be requested for a specific project
Homework Policy

·Homework will be assigned every Monday and will be due the following Monday
·Most homework assignments will be from the Directed Reading Workbook
which parallels our textbook which students will be given a copy of and
are solely responsible for its maintenance and replacement if lost
·Assignments will also be in the form or mini projects or reports or
       other reinforcement
activities to aid in student's retention or curricular material
·Student's work will be graded for effort and attempt, assignments must be neat,
legible and on the appropriate paper.
·On the due date we will review all homework assignments as a class and students
are expected to correct their mistakes before turning them in for grading
·At the beginning of each class period students are expected to write down the
homework and a summary of class activities in their "Binder Reminder".
·Any missed assignments or class notes missed by a student because of an
absence are solely the responsibility of the students to obtain at the start of
class and return by the specified deadline.
Extra Credit

Guidelines:
Extra credit assignments may be turned in any time before the last week of each quarter and will be considered for up to 10 extra credit points each. All extra credit points earned will be added to the student's overall points but may only increase a student's grade by one letter grade. Students must maintain a grade of "C" or better in all regular assignments for extra credit to be considered.

Requirements:
Find an article from a newspaper, magazine, or online. The article must be submitted along with the student's write up. Student's name, period, and date must appear in the upper right hand corner of the paper. Students must include a paragraph summary of the article, paragraph summary of how the article relates to science, and most importantly, a paragraph summary of their own opinion of the article.
Grading Scale

Students will be graded using the total points accumulated system. They will receive points for class work, homework, participation, notebooks, projects, and tests. Each assignment will be graded for effort, attempt, neatness and accuracy.

90% - 100% =A
80% - 89% =B
70% - 79% =C
60% - 69% =D
0% - 59% =F
Classwork

Students will take notes and make observation in their lab book which must be brought to class daily and will be graded periodically

Students will have classwork assignments and activities that will be graded and included in their total points grade calculation

Students are allowed to work on many assignments at their own pace and are given time to work on their homework when they finish their classwork.
